Implement Barn and Corral
HO Scale Kit No. 726
Kit No. 726 marks the seventh release in our series of agricultural buildings for the HO scale market. The purpose of the Implement Barn was to store farming vehicles and equipment as well as the other supplies necessary for operating a small to medium size farm. Our structure, which is based on a compilation of several small barns found in the Midwest, is now starting to show its age having been erected when the fields were still plowed and harvested by a team of draft horses; the connected corral once serving as their home. Now the barn is the gathering place for John Deere, Massey Harris, McCormick Deering, and the like and the pen next door is home to the horses the current family uses for recreational riding. Weather beaten and full of character, the old barn, with its covered bay, displays the scars of use. Wood planked patches have been made to her board by board siding, broken panes of glass are visible in her windows, and extra doors and hatches have been cut into her walls whenever the farmer found the necessity for a new entry way.
In order to portray the true personality of the old Implement Barn, our kit features a basswood sub wall design with custom scribed birch plywood outer walls, real wood window sashes and trim, simulated raised seam metal roofing, positionable wood door and hatches complete with interior details, hasp, lock, and hinges, broken panes of glazing for the windows, wood plank wall patches, cast resin water troughs, crate, and barrel, and an easy to assemble corral fence with gate. Assembled structure measures 4.5” long x 3.5” wide x 2.5” high with attached corral measuring 6.5” long x 6.5” wide. (Note: Farm equipment and figures shown not included.)
